HakiChain

HakiChain is a decentralized LegalTech platform built to restore fairness, trust and transparency in justice systems through blockchain technology. It empowers individuals with data sovereignty, allowing them to control, share and store their legal documents securely on-chain or via encrypted decentralized storage.

HakiChain uses a smart contract-powered escrow system to ensure that lawyers are only paid when work is delivered and verified, bringing trustless accountability to legal aid.

How It Works:

1. Funding: NGOs, donors, or organizations fund a legal bounty in advance, the funds are locked in an on-chain escrow.

2. Proof of Work: Lawyers complete milestone-based tasks (e.g., bail assistance, filing court documents) and upload verifiable proof of work.

3. Verification: The platform-assigned verifier reviews the submission.

4. Trigger Payout: Once verified, the smart contract automatically releases the funds from escrow to the lawyer’s wallet and can withdraw to MPESA

HakiChain offers a reputation-based legal services marketplace, where lawyers earn by completing milestone-based tasks funded as on-chain bounties. NGOs, donors, or communities can sponsor legal support, creating a transparent and trustless coordination system for justice delivery.

By leveraging blockchain’s immutability, every legal milestone, payout, and reputation event is recorded in a tamper-proof way—ensuring accountability and integrity. Sensitive documents are protected with zero-knowledge privacy tools, while AI-assisted workflows streamline case processing and document verification.

To improve efficiency, accessibility and accuracy, HakiChain integrates AI across multiple layers of the platform:

1. AI Legal Assistants(HakiBot) help citizens and lawyers understand their rights, draft simple documents (e.g., bail applications, affidavits), and navigate legal processes in plain language.
