Description

Stake21: Halal Staking for a Trustworthy DeFi Future

Stake21 is the first Sharia-audited staking protocol designed to empower Muslim investors to participate in decentralized finance safely, ethically, and transparently.

Deployment on Flow Blockchain

Stake21 is fully deployed on the Flow blockchain, chosen for its high security, scalability, and developer-friendly architecture. All staking logic, auditing processes, and verifications are handled directly on Flow through smart contracts.

If integrated through Blockscout or any compatible CMS, users can transparently explore all on-chain activities and audit trails in real time — reinforcing our commitment to transparency and user trust.

The Problem We Solve

The DeFi ecosystem has long faced a gap in trust and accessibility for Muslim investors. Despite the $3 trillion Islamic finance market, there has been no verifiable on-chain staking protocol that adheres to Sharia principles.

This absence has created uncertainty among investors, particularly in Indonesia and other Muslim-majority regions, where the sentiment often remains:
“Crypto is legal, but not yet halal.”

As a result, many potential investors have been excluded from the growing Web3 economy due to the lack of ethical and faith-compliant alternatives.

Stake21 addresses this issue by introducing a Sharia-certified staking model based on the Ijarah (rental) contract. This approach allows users to participate in DeFi ethically, earn stable halal returns, and engage with blockchain technology confidently — all without compromising religious values.

Overcoming the Challenges

Developing a Sharia-compliant DeFi protocol came with both technical and philosophical challenges.

Key difficulties included modeling the Ijarah profit-sharing logic on-chain, maintaining decentralization while enabling external Sharia audits, and ensuring that audit data could be verified transparently.

To overcome these challenges, the team worked closely with Islamic finance scholars and followed the MUI Fatwa No. 7/2021 as guidance. Stake21 was then built using a modular architecture powered by Next.js, Wagmi, and Cadence, ensuring that the staking logic, auditing, and reporting systems operate securely and independently.

Flow’s resource-oriented model plays a crucial role in maintaining secure and auditable transaction flows, while integration with Blockscout further enhances transparency by making every contract and transaction traceable.

Unique Value Proposition

Stake21 offers the world’s first Sharia-audited staking experience that delivers halal passive income through fixed, transparent Ujrah (rental fee) rewards.

Unlike traditional staking models, Stake21 is compliance-first — featuring on-chain audit proofs, verifiable Sharia certification, and stability inspired by Sukuk principles. This combination brings trust and inclusivity to the global DeFi landscape.

Target Users

Our core audience includes Muslim crypto investors who want to participate in Web3 without violating their ethical or religious values.

We focus on:

  • Retail investors aged 18–40 across Indonesia, Malaysia, the UAE, and Turkey.

  • Faith-based investment communities seeking transparent and ethical digital assets.

  • Islamic financial institutions exploring blockchain-based halal yield mechanisms.

Competitors and Differentiation

While projects like Lido and Rocket Pool offer mainstream ETH staking, they lack the religious and ethical transparency that Stake21 provides.
Similarly, networks like HAQQ focus on being Islamic Layer-1 blockchains but are not staking-specific.

Stake21 bridges this gap — combining DeFi technology with Islamic finance ethics, powered by Flow’s reliable smart contracts and open auditing capabilities.

Distribution and Growth Strategy

Stake21’s expansion strategy focuses on credibility, community, and collaboration.

  1. Institutional Partnerships – We work with Sharia councils and Islamic finance boards to ensure certification and co-branding.

  2. Community Evangelism – Growth through local Muslim Web3 communities on X, Telegram, and offline crypto events.

  3. DeFi Collaboration – Offering a “Halal Staking Mode” to existing protocols seeking compliance.

  4. Transparent Content Marketing – Publishing verified Sharia audit reports on-chain and across media to build public confidence.

Technologies and Infrastructure

  • Cadence (Flow) – For building Ijarah-based staking contracts.

  • Next.js – For the main dashboard and user experience.

  • Wagmi + ShadCN – For seamless wallet connections and modern interface design.

  • Flow Blockchain + Blockscout – For transaction transparency, auditing, and user verification.
