Decentralized Competitive Cloud Optimization




The Core Concept
CloudBench is a proposed Bittensor Subnet that acts as a decentralized cloud cost optimization engine. It is designed to tackle the $100+ billion annual enterprise cloud waste crisis, where companies routinely over-provision their infrastructure by 30-60% because modern GPU and multi-region deployments are just too complex for human teams to perfectly optimize.
How the Network Works
It treats cloud optimization as an adversarial, competitive market.
The Miners (Autonomous FinOps Agents): Miners act as specialized financial operations (FinOps) agents that compete to discover the absolute cheapest and most efficient cloud infrastructure configurations. They analyze workload profiles and synthesize actual Infrastructure-as-Code (like Terraform or Kubernetes).
The Validators (The Simulators): Validators generate realistic, heavy production workloads—such as AI inference APIs or distributed machine learning training pipelines. They test the miners' configurations against these workloads.
The Incentive (Proof of Optimization): Miners are rewarded with TAO for maximizing cost reduction, but there is a catch: they must maintain strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for latency and availability. If their cheap configuration causes the application to crash or miss the SLA, they instantly receive a score of zero.
The Ultimate Goal
Instead of relying on static rules or expensive centralized consultants, CloudBench turns the entire Bittensor network into a continuously evolving, decentralized FinOps team that can discover cost-saving infrastructure strategies no single vendor could calculate.
