Job Description:
The Assistant Accountant role provides essential financial processing, reconciliation, compliance, and administrative support to SELECT’s Finance Team and its clients – SELECT Member Businesses. This position ensures accuracy across Owners Corporation financial records, strengthens financial reporting practices, and supports month-end, year-end, and ongoing operational requirements.
The role works closely with the Finance Manager, SELECT Assist team, and to ensure timely, high-quality, and compliant financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Administration & System Maintenance
- Assist with on-boarding and off-boarding buildings
2. Arrears, AP/ AR Support
- Assist teams with payment plan setup and monitoring.
- Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable entries and reconciliations.
- Manage and upload Group Account invoices into system.
- Assist with invoice entry overflow for OCs as directed by the Finance Manager.
3. Month-End & Year-End Support
- Complete and process year-end adjustments in line with financial reporting requirements.
- Assist in month-end and year-end financial reviews, including variance analysis and account checks.
- Support preparation of working papers for BAS lodgement.
- Support maintenance of Owners Corporation loan ledgers including balances, schedules, and reconciliations.
4. General Ledger & Accounting Tasks
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Perform downloads and bank reconciliations
- Ensure all entries comply with accounting standards and internal controls.
5. Financial Reporting, Audit & Compliance
- Support delivery of financial reporting, including internal summaries and compliance documentation.
- Assist with BAS GST lodgement preparation
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
6. Communication & Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with SELECT Assist, Cloudstaff, and Finance teams.
- Provide timely updates, escalate issues, and support process improvements.
- Ensure documentation is maintained, updated, and aligned with internal procedures.
Qualification and requirements:
- Experience in accounting, finance administration, or Owners Corporation finance (preferred).
- CPA is preferred along with working with Australian companies previously.
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks, bank reconciliation processes, and working papers.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work remotely and manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
