Description
Green Lane
Green Lane is an innovative, eco-conscious navigation platform that reimagines the way we move through cities. Unlike traditional GPS apps that prioritize speed or distance, Green Lane focuses on sustainability, well-being, and environmental impact.
The system provides walking and biking routes optimized based on three key parameters:
Air Quality (real-time pollution and particulate data)
Tree Coverage (greener paths are prioritized)
Weather Conditions (temperature, UV index, and rain alerts)
Marking routes with proper colour codes of red ,orange , yellow and green(the Green Lane)
Using data from OpenRouteService and OpenWeatherMap APIs, along with a custom Green Score algorithm, Green Lane ranks and recommends routes along with proper directions that are not only efficient but also healthier and more pleasant.
Users can choose between walking and biking modes, toggle between light and dark themes (complete with dynamic background videos), and view detailed route analytics ā all through a clean, responsive, and visually engaging interface.
Objective:
To promote sustainable urban mobility by empowering users to make environmentally conscious travel decisions ā encouraging a shift from traffic-heavy routes to greener, safer, and healthier alternatives.
Impact:
By making āgreen thinkingā a part of everyday commuting, Green Lane fosters eco-awareness, supports public health, and contributes to building smarter, cleaner cities.

Progress During Hackathon
š Progress During the Hackathon Over the course of the hackathon, our team Cosmic Coders made rapid progress in bringing Green Lane to life. Here's a snapshot of what we achieved: ā Day 1: Ideation & Planning - Brainstormed and finalized the concept of eco-optimized navigation - Identified key data points: air quality, tree coverage, and weather conditions - Chose APIs: OpenRouteService for routing and OpenWeatherMap One Call 3.0 for environmental data - Outlined features and user journey ā Day 2: Core Development - Successfully integrated: - Routing system using OpenRouteService API - Real-time weather and AQI data via OpenWeatherMap API - Designed a custom Green Score algorithm to rate routes based on environmental health - Built a responsive frontend using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (no frameworks) - Developed light/dark theme switching with animated background videos ā Day 3: UI Polish & Enhancements - Added interactive map interface for selecting source, destination, and travel mode (walk/bike) - Displayed detailed route information with weather and air quality overlays - Implemented eco-score display with visual indicators - Optimized mobile responsiveness and overall UX - Began implementing route comparison and eco-impact analytics š Bonus Touches - Designed a visually appealing landing interface with smooth transitions - Set up toggle for light/dark mode that changes both UI and background video - Developed project branding: logo, tagline, and storytelling for impact --- We turned an ambitious idea into a working prototype with real-world data, a strong UI/UX, and a powerful message: "Navigate Smarter. TravelĀ greener."6
